Be A Person Who Never Gives Up. Here’s Why:
“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” That quote is attributed to Babe Ruth, The Sultan of Swat, leading home run header for the New York Yankees way back. That wisdom is so true that you can’t almost beat a person who refuses to quit. There are so many stories in business and sports, in all areas of human performance, where the person who won wasn’t necessarily the person with the most talent, the best looks, the best pedigree or the best education. The person who prevailed was the person who refused to quit, who even when it was hard, kept going.
I know in my own life, in my first company, I had been the top salesman in the United States out of over 450 salespeople. I had been the top sales manager in the country out of over 40 offices. I opened my first company and I was ill-equipped to be an owner. For two years, I struggled mightily. You could have a second helping of air because we didn’t have anything else. After two years, we figured that out, and then the next 5 or 6 years, we did another 20, 21 locations. No outside capital, no partners, no debt. We sold our way to growth and success. Remember what the Babe says, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Keep going, keep getting up, and tough it out. You can do it.
